What are the definitions of ghibah (backbiting), namimah (slander), hamz (slandering), and lamz (taunting) as mentioned in His, the Almighty’s, saying: "Woe to every slanderer and backbiter"?

Backbiting is mentioning about your brother what he dislikes of the flaws present in him. If these flaws are not in him, then it is slander. It is forbidden by the Qur’an, Sunnah, and scholarly consensus. Allah the Almighty likened the backbiter to one who eats the flesh of his dead brother. Its causes are numerous, such as envy and mockery. Its cure involves remembering its ugliness and that it transfers good deeds to the one who was backbited. If one falls into it, repentance is obligatory, as is seeking forgiveness from the one who was backbited. Backbiting is permissible for specific reasons: seeking redress, seeking help to change a wrong, seeking a fatwa (religious legal opinion), warning Muslims, public declaration of (open sinfulness), and for identification. Hamz (defamation) and Lamz (slandering) are types of backbiting. Namimah (slanderous tale-carrying) is the act of instigating discord and animosity among people, and it is forbidden by the Qur’an, Sunnah, and scholarly consensus.
