What is the ruling on having another laser session to even out the beard hair after the first session resulted in patches of hair loss and dense areas?
The default rule for the beard is to let it grow and hang loose. Many have been narrated commanding this, prohibiting its shaving, and forbidding imitation of the polytheists. Among these hadith are: "Trim the mustaches and let the beards grow, distinguish yourselves from the polytheists," and "Cut the mustaches and let the beards hang loose, distinguish yourselves from the Majus," and "Distinguish yourselves from the polytheists, let the beards grow fully and trim the mustaches." Imam Ibn Abd al-Barr prohibited shaving the beard. As for trimming it if it exceeds a fistful, many scholars permitted it, but the correct view is that it is disliked to trim it at all and it should be left as it is. Finally, there is no objection to undergoing a surgical procedure to restore beard hair to its natural state if a disfigurement has occurred.
