What is the ruling regarding a husband telling his wife: "I don't want to hear about religion from you; I will seek it out myself, for you exaggerate"?

A husband is not religiously obligated to seek knowledge from his wife; he may seek it from others, especially if he has a valid reason, such as her extremism. In this case, there is no blame upon him if he refuses to hear religious matters from her and seeks them independently. An unlearned husband should ask those scholars whom he trusts, and he should not search in books by himself. Al-Qurtubi said that the duty of an unlearned person is to ask the most knowledgeable people of his time regarding his predicament, based on the verse: ﴿So ask the people of the message if you do not know﴾. He must, therefore, strive to seek out the most knowledgeable people of his time.
