Is the statement: "Jibreel is not active in our region because no one I know has died" considered mockery of Jibreel (peace be upon him), and what is the ruling on the one who says it?

The words of the speaker indicate his ignorance, for Jibril (Gabriel) is not entrusted with death but with revelation. The angels of death are the ones entrusted with that. The angels do not disobey Allah nor do they become lazy; they act by His command and wisdom. Mocking the angels is disbelief and apostasy. If the speaker intended mockery, and he is aware of its ruling, then he is a disbeliever and an apostate. However, if he did not intend mockery but rather meant to express the low number of deaths, then he does not commit disbelief. Nevertheless, he must be advised to avoid such dangerous statements.
