What is the ruling on one who deliberately lies during the daytime in Ramadan?

Fasting is a secret between the servant and his Lord, aiming to achieve piety. Drawing closer to Allah by abstaining from permissible things during fasting is not complete unless one also abstains from forbidden things such as injustice and lying. Fasting is not only about food and drink, but also includes abstaining from idle talk and obscenities. The ears, eyes, and tongue must also fast from lies and forbidden things, and the fasting person should possess tranquility and dignity. Whoever lies while fasting must repent, seek forgiveness, and resolve not to return to it. He is not required to make up that day.
