In this matter, one should refer to the court and seek assistance from doctors. Full blood money (Diyya) is obligatory for the complete loss of eyesight, and half Diyya for the loss of sight in one eye. If only a part of the eyesight is lost, then the Diyya is proportional to the lost portion, if it can be precisely determined. Otherwise, there is a "hukuma," as the Hanbalis say. The "hukumat al-adl" (just compensation) is the amount of money determined by the judge with the help of experts in cases where there is no specific amount prescribed by Islamic law.
