What is the ruling on a pilgrim eating cinnamon gum?

Cinnamon is not among the forbidden fragrances. Rather, it is a spice that has an odor and is used for food and medicinal purposes, not for perfuming oneself. Consuming or chewing it does not affect a pilgrim in the state of ihram. It was known as "al-Darsini." Al-Mardawi, al-Buhuti, and al-Shirbini mentioned the permissibility of smelling it and using it because it is not intended for perfuming oneself.
