"Waswasah" (obsessive whisperings) is a serious disease, and the best cure for it is to ignore it. Perform ablution and pray once, and do not interrupt your prayer. Act on the premise that your ritual purity remains, unless there is absolute certainty that your ablution has been nullified. The emission of gas from the front or back passage does not necessitate istinja' (washing the private parts), but only nullifies ablution. The Maliki school of thought holds that the emission of gas from the front passage does not nullify ablution, and adopting this view offers flexibility to overcome waswasah.
