Is it necessary to wash all of the hair, including its roots, when purifying from sexual intercourse, or is it sufficient to sprinkle some water on the sides of the head, taking into consideration the styling of the hair for beautification for the husband?

A woman who performs ghusl to cleanse herself from major ritual impurity (janaba) must wash all of her hair, including its roots. Washing only one side of the head is not sufficient. Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated: "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I am a woman with tightly braided hair, so should I undo it for ghusl from janaba?' He said: 'No, it is sufficient for you to pour three handfuls of water over your head, then pour water over your body, and you will become pure.'" Obedience to Allah takes precedence over obedience to one's husband.
