The answer

If the poetry expresses respect and love for the one for whom it was written, then there is no objection to it, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "If one of you loves his brother, let him go to his house and inform him that he loves him." However, if it contains words of infatuation and what incites desires, or if it is exaggerated praise, then this is not permissible because it is inherently forbidden, and because of the forbidden matters it may lead to.
