Would you like an explanation of Surat Al-Fatiha?

This is a brief interpretation of Surat Al-Fatihah:

As for "Bismillah" (In the name of Allah), it means beginning in the name of Allah for blessings and assistance. Allah is the worshipped one, deserving of all worship. "Ar-Rahman, Ar-Rahim" (The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful) are two names indicating the vastness of Allah's mercy, which encompasses every creature, and is specifically bestowed upon His chosen friends (awliya').

"Alhamdulilah" (All praise is due to Allah) is a description of Allah with absolute perfection in all states. "Rabb Al-Alameen" (Lord of the Worlds) means the Sustainer of all creation, providing general sustenance which includes creation and provision, and special sustenance for His chosen friends through faith and success.

"Malik Yawm Ad-Din" (Master of the Day of Judgment) is the One who has full authority on the Day of Resurrection, where His complete dominion becomes manifest.

"Iyyaka Na'budu wa Iyyaka Nasta'een" (You alone we worship and You alone we ask for help) means dedicating worship and seeking assistance exclusively to Allah. Worship is a comprehensive term for everything Allah loves in words and deeds, and seeking assistance is relying on Allah to gain benefits and avert harms.

"Ihdina As-Sirat Al-Mustaqeem" (Guide us to the straight path) is a request for guidance and steadfastness on the clear path, which is the path of the prophets and the righteous, not the path of those who earned Allah's wrath (like the Jews who knew the truth but abandoned it), nor the path of those who went astray (like the Christians who left the truth out of ignorance). "Ameen" after Al-Fatihah means "O Allah, respond."
