If your companion is solely at fault, then he must repair your car or pay for its repairs. But if both of you share the fault, then each of you must repair the damage to the other's car. Al-Khiraqi said regarding the collision of two animals: "And if two horsemen collide, and both animals die, then each of them guarantees the value of the other's animal."
