If the father spends on his daughter gratuitously, he has no right to demand maintenance from the husband. However, if the father spends with the intention of claiming maintenance from the husband, then he has that right. The wife should not dispose of her husband’s money except with his permission, but if he gives her maintenance or money, she may dispose of it. The wife has the right to demand her entire prompt dower, including the jewelry and movables, whereas the deferred dower is due upon its appointed time or upon separation by divorce or death.
