There are no specialized books by early scholars on the inimitability of the Shariah in general. Rather, their works specifically address the inimitability of the Holy Quran, including: Risalat Bayan I'jaz al-Quran by Al-Khattabi, I'jaz al-Quran by Al-Baqillani, and Mu'tarak al-Aqran fi I'jaz al-Quran by Al-Suyuti.

There are also individual works by early scholars that explain the virtues of the Shariah, such as: Mahasin al-Sharia by Al-Qaffal Al-Shashi, and Al-I'lam bima fi Din al-Nasara min al-Fasad wal-Awham wa Izhar Mahasin al-Islam by Al-Qurtubi.

Among the sources that discuss the virtues of legislation are books on the objectives of Shariah (Maqasid al-Sharia), such as Al-Shatibi's book Al-Muwafaqat.
