The story of Umm Qirfa al-Fazariyyah, with which Islam is accused of violence and cruelty, is not authentic in its chain of transmission (sanad) or its text (matn). The narrations that mention her killing and mutilation are断絶 (munqaṭiʿah) and contain weak or abandoned narrators in their chains of transmission, such as al-Tabari's narration from Ibn Ishaq. Furthermore, its text is denounced (munkar) and contradicts authentic hadiths that prohibit mutilating the dead and killing women and children in war. Other narrations that suggest Abu Bakr al-Siddiq killed her for apostasy are also weak and disconnected. In summary, all the chains of transmission for this story are weak, and what is mentioned in it regarding her mutilation is clearly reprehensible. It should not be disseminated except to warn against it.
