When does the 'iddah (waiting period) of our mother end, if our father passed away after 8:00 PM on Jumada al-Akhirah 27, 1437 AH, and his death was discovered at 2:00 AM on Jumada al-Akhirah 28, 1437 AH?

If the mother is pregnant, her 'iddah (waiting period) ends upon delivery of her child. If she is not pregnant, her 'iddah is four months and ten days, based on the Almighty's saying: "And for those who are pregnant, their term is until they deliver their burdens," and the Almighty's saying: "And those who are taken in death among you and leave wives behind - they, [the wives], shall wait four months and ten [days]." The 'iddah is calculated in lunar months, with the month of death being completed to thirty days if the death occurred during it.

So, if the father passed away at 2:00 AM on the 28th of Jumada al-Akhirah, 1437 AH, the 'iddah would end on the eighth or ninth of Dhul-Qa'dah, depending on the completion of the month of death. The 'iddah begins from the moment of death, and it is necessary to be cautious in completing it until certainty of its completion. The months are considered by crescent moons when possible, otherwise by one hundred and thirty days as a precautionary measure.
