Will the deceased be tormented because of a debt that was not paid due to compelling circumstances such as war, and is the creditor considered patient in this case?

The soul of a believer is tied to his debt until it is paid off. If the creditor agrees to postpone the debt, the deceased is not sinful for that delay. Al-Mardawi mentioned in "Al-Insaf" two narrations regarding the Madhhab of Ahmad, one of which is the debtor's exoneration merely by virtue of a guarantee. Sheikh Ibn Baz said: If the debt is deferred and the heirs or some of them commit to paying it on time, then it is deferred and does not harm the deceased; otherwise, it must be paid from the inheritance.
