What is the reason for the prohibition of pork in Islam?

The fundamental principle for a Muslim is obedience to Allah and acceptance of the ruling of Sharia whenever a text is established, whether the wisdom behind it is apparent or not. Allah the Almighty says: (It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair). Pork has been forbidden by a textual prohibition in the Quran, in His saying: (He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, and the flesh of swine). It is not permissible except in a case of extreme necessity. There is no specific reason for the prohibition of pork mentioned in the religious texts other than His saying: (for indeed, it is an impurity), and a general reason in His saying: (and makes lawful for them the good things and prohibits for them the evil), which indicates that pork is among the evil things that contain harm to human health, wealth, or morals. Scientific research has proven that the pig is a reservoir for harmful germs, parasitic diseases, bacterial and viral infections, and others. This confirms the wisdom of the prohibition to preserve life.
