Is the reward for listening to a Quran recitation tape the same as the reward for reading it?

Reciting the Quran yields immense reward, and so does listening to it. Scholars have differed on which is more virtuous. Some preferred recitation due to the abundance of texts mentioning it, while others preferred listening because it leads to deeper contemplation, which is the primary objective of the Quran. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to listen to his companions recite. The best approach is to combine both: sometimes reciting the Quran and at other times listening to it.
