Is it permissible to hold more than one congregational prayer at the same time in a single mosque, especially if the women cannot hear the Imam and wish to hold another congregation led by one of them?

The basic principle is that it is not permissible to hold two congregational prayers in one mosque, as this leads to division and disturbance. However, it is permissible if there is an excuse, such as women not being able to hear the Imam's voice. It is a condition that no disturbance occurs between the two congregations. Umar ibn al-Khattab and Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with them both, did this during Tarawih prayer, appointing one Imam for men and another for women. Al-Albani mentioned that this is permissible if the mosque is spacious, so that one does not disturb the other.
