What is the value of feeding a poor person for expiation?

Scholars have differed regarding the permissibility of giving the monetary value of food to the needy instead of actual food for expiations (kaffarat). The more preponderant opinion (rajih) is that it is permissible due to need, benefit, or justice, as was also held by Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah.
