Is forgiving an aggressor when one is unable to retaliate considered humiliation and disgrace?

The texts of the Quran and Sunnah converge on the virtue of forgiveness and pardoning, and that it is a path to the oppressed person's honor in the sight of Allah Almighty. This reward extends to every oppressed person, whether they are capable of retaliation or unable to do so. It is inconceivable that this would be a deficiency; rather, it is an elevation, due to the generality of Allah Almighty's saying: "and those who pardon people," and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "and you forgive whoever wronged you."
