What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding a girl's refusal to go out unless she wears the prescribed legal head covering (khimar shar'i), while her family insists on the ordinary hijab, and what is your guidance to both the girl and her mother in this situation?

We advise the sister to adhere to her hijab and to be patient with any harm, while maintaining gentleness and kindness with her family. She should avoid confrontation with them, especially when they are angry. We advise the mother to fear Allah and not to stand in the way of her daughter's religious commitment. As for the arguments they use to convince her to abandon the hijab, such as "religion is about conduct" or "how many girls wear the legal hijab but...", these are incorrect because hijab is an act of worship in itself, and a covering for women. The claim that hijab distorts the image of Islam is a mistaken notion, for modesty and chastity do not distort Islam.
