How is the prostration of forgetfulness performed in cases of deficiency or excess, and is the Tashahhud repeated if the prostration is after the Taslim? And is it only said in it: "Subhana Rabbi al-A'la" three times, or are there other remembrances? And is the prostration of forgetfulness obligatory for one who forgets the first Tashahhud?

Firstly: The place for the prostration of forgetfulness (sujood al-sahw) is either before the salutation (tasleem) or after it. The more apparent view is that an addition necessitates prostration after the salutation, while a deficiency necessitates prostration before it. As for doubt, it is after the salutation if one of the probabilities is more likely, and before it if neither is more likely.

Secondly: The first tashahhud (testification of faith) is obligatory. Whoever omits it intentionally has their prayer invalidated. Whoever omits it due to forgetfulness rectifies it with the prostration of forgetfulness before the salutation.

Thirdly: It is not prescribed to repeat the tashahhud after the prostration of forgetfulness, whether it was performed before or after the salutation.

Fourthly: The prostration of forgetfulness is performed like the prostration of prayer, on seven bones, with the saying "Subhana Rabbiyal-A'la" (Glory be to my Lord, the Most High) and "Rabbighfirli" (My Lord, forgive me) between the two prostrations. There is no specific remembrance for it.
