What is the ruling on supplicating with: "O Allah, be with me"?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The supplication "O Allah, be with me" is permissible and possesses great virtue. For whoever has Allah with him attains security, success, assistance, and guidance. Qatadah said: "Whoever fears Allah, He will be with him. And whoever has Allah with him, then he has with him the group that cannot be defeated, the guardian who never sleeps, and the guide who never goes astray." And Allah's 'being with' (His 'ma'iyyah') is through His victory, assistance, and enabling success.
