What is the ruling on wearing blouses that reach only to the elbow, with a "badi" underneath, and how can one convince his wife in this regard in a way that pleases Allah?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

A woman must wear loose, concealing clothing that neither describes nor reveals, covering the entire body except for the face and hands (scholars differed on covering these). A blouse and bodice alone are not sufficient for concealment because they define the size of the limbs. The husband must obligate his wife to wear the legal hijab when going out or in front of non-mahram men. He has the right to compel her to wear it if she does not respond after being reminded with wisdom and good counsel.
