What is the ruling on riding the subway when there are songs playing on it, and other forms of transportation are more expensive?

Listening to songs differs from merely hearing them. Listening is done with the intention of understanding or benefiting, whereas hearing is more general. So, if prohibited songs are present in a public place like the metro, there is no sin upon a person if they turn away from them in their heart and do not pay attention to them.
