What is meant by the word "Al-Sabbabah" (the index finger), and is it permissible to call it by that name, especially since the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, pointed with it in the hadith about sponsoring an orphan?

The index finger is the finger between the thumb and the middle finger. It was named “Al-Sabbabah” (the accuser) because it was used for pointing when reviling in a dispute. It has been mentioned in many hadiths, such as the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: “I and the Hour have been sent like these two,” and he joined his two fingers, the index finger and the middle finger.

Some scholars call it “Al-Musabbihah” (the glorifier) because it is used to point to Tawhid (monotheism) and Tasbeeh (glorification of God) in prayer. There is no harm in calling it by either name.
