Of whom was it said, "then he drew nigh and came down, till he was at a distance of two bows' length or even nearer," in the verse "And he drew nigh to the Almighty, Lord of Glory, then he came down, till he was at a distance of two bows' length or even nearer"?

There are several interpretations regarding the verses: (Then he approached and descended, becoming at a distance of two bow-lengths or nearer):

It was said that the pronouns refer to Jibril (Gabriel), and this is the view of Ibn Abbas, Al-Hasan, Qatadah, and Ar-Rabi'.

It was also said that they refer to the Lord, glory be to Him, and this is the view of Anas, and a narration from Abu Salama on the authority of Ibn Abbas.

It was also said that they refer to Jibril from his Lord, and this is the view of Mujahid.

It was also said that they refer to Muhammad from his Lord, and this is the view of Ad-Dahhak.

And it was said that they refer to Muhammad from the leg of the Throne.

The most preponderant view is that the pronouns refer to Jibril.
