What is the ruling on reading comments that contain backbiting and slander on social media, and does such reading constitute participation in sin?

Originally, backbiting and reviling a Muslim are forbidden by Islamic law. The fatwa adopted by us is the prohibition of reading what has been written containing unlawful backbiting or reviling, except for a valid purpose such as denouncing it. This is because reading it without a legitimate purpose is considered an acceptance of sins. This is derived from the statement of al-Bujayrimi al-Shafi'i: "And that which is unlawful in itself, it is forbidden to look at it [or to peruse it], because it is an acceptance of it."
