Is it permissible for the husband to return to his wife after he divorced her three times in a moment of anger?

Anger has three states:

1. If the anger is intense and the person loses their awareness, like a madman or an imbecile, then their divorce does not take effect, by scholarly consensus.

2. If the anger is intense, but the person understands and comprehends what they are saying, though they are unable to control themselves, then there is a difference of opinion among scholars regarding this. The most preponderant view is that it does not take effect, due to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "No divorce and no manumission in ighlaq." Scholars interpreted ighlaq as duress and intense anger.

3. Mild anger that causes irritation and dislike but does not prevent comprehension; in this case, divorce takes effect, by scholarly consensus.

This is the correct view concerning the issue of divorce by an angry person.
