A woman knows she is pure by one of two signs: dryness or the white discharge. If she ascertains purity, she must hasten to perform ghusl (ritual bath) to pray on time, and this is the more cautious opinion. If she sees blood after ghusl, she returns to a state of menstruation if it occurs during her menstrual period. As for yellowish or brownish discharge, it is considered menstruation if it occurs during the usual duration of her period; otherwise, it is not. If she sees white discharge mixed with yellowness, it is not considered purity until she sees one of the two signs of purity. If she delays ghusl or neglects prayer, assuming she is menstruating, she must make up those prayers according to the majority of scholars, and this is the more cautious opinion. If she does not know the number of prayers she must make up, she should estimate and perform what will absolve her responsibility.
