What is the ruling on editing photographic images (nature, animals, inanimate objects) by muting or enhancing colors and lighting without altering the original colors, in order to avoid violating Islamic Sharia?

Scholars have differed regarding the ruling on photographic imaging of living beings. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen conditioned permissibility on the absence of alteration or enhancement. As for images of non-living beings, such as inanimate objects and nature, there is no harm in drawing them, photographing them, or altering and enhancing them.
