Is charity accepted from a disobedient son on behalf of his deceased father?
The questioner must first repent by abandoning sins, feeling remorse, and resolving not to return to them, as in the hadith: "The one who repents from sin is like one who has no sin." His charity on behalf of his father is accepted, Allah willing, as long as he affirms monotheism and prays, because shirk (associating partners with Allah) is the only thing that prevents the acceptance of charity. Al-Qurtubi said that what is meant by piety in "Indeed, Allah only accepts from the righteous [who fear Him]" is the avoidance of shirk. So, whoever avoids it and makes his intention sincere, his deed is accepted.
