After trying many medicines, is it permissible to eat wolf meat?

Scholars have differed regarding the ruling on eating wolf meat. The majority have favored its prohibition, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) prohibition of eating any beast of prey with fangs. It is not permissible to use it for medicinal purposes, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, Allah has not made the cure for my nation in what He has forbidden to them," unless there is no other medicine available that can substitute it, in which case it is permissible to use it out of necessity.
