Is it permissible to recite the Quran in a house that contains statues that are difficult to get rid of?

It is permissible to recite the Quran and perform prayers in a room containing statues, although it is better to avoid such a room. Keeping statues of animate beings is impermissible and considered a sin, and it causes angels to not enter the house, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture." The intended angels are those who circulate with mercy, blessings, and seeking forgiveness.
