Does touching a dog or a dog's saliva nullify ablution?

Touching a dog or its saliva does not nullify ablution, as there is no Shar'i (Islamic legal) evidence for that, nor have scholars mentioned it among thethings that nullify ablution. However, a dog's saliva is impure, and its impurity is severe; it can only be removed by washing seven times, one of which is with earth.
