What is the ruling on eating a camel that escaped and was killed by a rifle shot to its head?

Scholars differed regarding the consumption of a domestic animal that has become wild and cannot be slaughtered in the prescribed manner. The Maliki school, in its well-known opinion, holds that it is not permissible to eat, similar to game. However, Ibn al-Arabi and the majority of scholars are of the opinion that it is permissible to eat by the same means used for wild animals, due to what was narrated: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said concerning animals that become unmanageable, "Indeed, these domestic animals have evasions like the evasions of wild animals. So, whatever among them overwhelms you, do with it thus [i.e., treat it as wild game]." This indicates that its slaughter is by necessity and that all parts of its body are a valid place for slaughter.
