Is one Udhiyah sufficient for a married person living with his family in one house?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is permissible for you to offer one sheep as a sacrifice on behalf of yourself and your household, as long as you live in one house, even if you are on separate floors. It has been authentically reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, "used to offer one sheep as a sacrifice on his behalf and on behalf of his household." However, if the sacrifice is a large camel or a cow, then seven people may share in it, whether they are relatives or not, or whether they reside in the same house or not.
