Is one Udhiyah sufficient for all members of the household, even if their number is large?

A single sacrifice (udhiyah) is sufficient for all household members, no matter how many they are. The proof for this is what At-Tirmidhi narrated from Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: "A man used to offer a sheep as a sacrifice on behalf of himself and his household, and they would eat and feed (others)." Al-Albani authenticated this hadith. Scholars like Ibn al-Qayyim, Ash-Shawkani, and Ibn 'Uthaymeen mentioned that this is the correct view, and that a single sheep is sufficient for the household even if their number reaches one hundred or more. The Permanent Committee affirmed this, noting that sacrificing more than one is better if possible.
