Is not doing what a mother asks—without her becoming angry—considered disobedience (ʿuqūq), or is raising one's voice and shouting when personal belongings are tampered with, or not moving a cup if a father asks for it, considered disobedience (ʿuqūq) and a major sin (kabīrah) that warrants entry into Hell? And is the word of parents sacred to this extent?

Obeying one's parents is obligatory in matters that do not involve disobedience to God. It is not permissible to defy them in matters that benefit them and do not harm the son.

If parents are hurt by their son's defiance, this constitutes disobedience (ʿuqūq), which is a grave sin.

One must repent for raising one's voice at one's mother and address her with politeness, gentleness, and humility, as Allah Almighty says: "So do not say to them, 'uff,' and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word. And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, 'My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small.'"

Repentance erases what came before it, and if the son strives to be dutiful to his parents despite some shortcomings, Allah will forgive that.
