Is it forbidden to ride an elevator alone with a woman?

A man being alone with a non-mahram woman in an elevator is no different from being alone with her in any other place; in fact, it might be even more dangerous due to the confined space, which could lead to temptation, unlawful looking, and touching. Being alone with a non-mahram woman is forbidden by the consensus of jurists, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "No man is alone with a woman except that her mahram is with her," and his saying: "No man is alone with a woman but the third of them is Satan."
