The 'Umarid issue (al-mas'alah al-'umariyyah) is: a husband, a mother, and a father; or a wife, a mother, and a father. Ibn Abbas and the Zahiris, however, held that the mother receives one-third of the entire estate, but the first opinion is the correct one.
