What is the solution to the problem of a mother who curses her son with illness and calamities, despite his dutifulness towards her, and insults and curses his deceased father, while she is kind to people but harsh with him? Is it obligatory to cut ties with her?

The abusive actions of a mother do not negate the duty to honor her, nor do they permit harming her. Cursing the dead is a great evil and impermissible. It is advised to pray for the mother, asking Allah to guide her to righteousness, and to strive in honoring her and showing her kindness, while being cautious of abandonment; for it is not permissible to abandon parents unless it is the only way to reform them, and then only to the extent necessary, while maintaining connection with them through other means.
