How is the meat of the sacrificial animal divided on behalf of the deceased, and is it permissible to eat from it, or must it all be distributed?

For the family of the deceased to prepare food and gather people for it is disliked and contrary to the Sunnah. It is an imitation of the practices of the pre-Islamic era (Jahiliyyah) and part of the forbidden wailing (niyaahah). However, for neighbors to prepare food for the family of the deceased is a good Sunnah due to the family's preoccupation with their calamity.

If the family of the deceased prepares food and distributes it as charity on behalf of their deceased, this is a good deed from which the deceased benefits. There is no specific division; rather, it is distributed to the needy according to their needs, and it is permissible to eat from it.

It is not permissible for this to be from the inheritance of the deceased before its division if there are minors among the heirs, because it is an encroachment on the property of orphans. If there are no minors, then the consent of the adults is necessary.

It is not permissible to slaughter at graves, nor is it permissible to slaughter for other than Allah Almighty; rather, it must be purely for Him.
