Contracting is divided into two categories: First, the contractor's work is purely a rental (ijara), without committing to anything else besides his labor, and the materials and tools are provided by the other party. Second, the contractor undertakes to provide all materials and labor, and this falls under the contract of manufacturing (istisna') and its rulings apply to it.
