Is repentance from a sin that incurs a prescribed penalty sufficient to avert the torment of the grave, or must the prescribed penalty be carried out?

Muslim men and women must fear Allah and stay away from indecencies and bad company. Allah should be praised and thanked for His guidance to repentance. The husband who covered his wife is commended, as this indicates gallantry and sound judgment. The wife must sincerely repent to Allah, and the conditions of repentance are to cease the sin, regret it, and resolve not to return to it. Indeed, Allah accepts repentance and replaces evil deeds with good ones for whoever repents, believes, and does righteous deeds.
