Can we, the generation of this era, perform even a little of the worship of the righteous predecessors, such as night prayer, reciting the Quran, and memorizing it, despite the abundance of surrounding temptations?

A Muslim can strive diligently in worship and compete with the righteous predecessors, such as the Companions, seeking commendable rivalry in acts of obedience, as evidenced by the saying of Abu Muslim al-Khawlani, may Allah have mercy on him: "Do the Companions of Muhammad think that they will monopolize him without us? Nay, by Allah! We shall jostle them for him with such a jostle that they will know they have left men behind them!!" and Allah Almighty's saying: (And for that let the competitors compete).

It is obligatory to seize opportunities for worship and obedience, as the Prophet, peace be upon him, advised: (Seize five before five: your life before your death, your health before your illness, your free time before your preoccupation, your youth before your old age, and your richness before your poverty).

One should also beware of heedlessness concerning the afterlife, abandon competition for this world, avoid procrastination, and hasten to acts of obedience, in response to Allah Almighty's saying: (And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden whose width is the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous).
