The noble states: "Whoever goes to a soothsayer and asks him about something, his prayer will not be accepted for forty nights." It appears that the non-acceptance of prayer begins from the time of the sin (consulting the soothsayer), not from the time of repentance, as repentance is not mentioned in the Hadith. This means that the non-acceptance applies to the prayers performed by the person after consulting the soothsayer.
