Were the Prophets and Messengers who were killed given a choice before their death, or were they not given a choice?

Each prophet, upon their death, is given a choice between this world and the Hereafter. The proof for this lies in narrations from Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, such as: "No prophet is ever taken [in death] until he sees his seat in Paradise, then he is given life or given a choice," and her statement: "There is no prophet who falls ill but is given a choice between this world and the Hereafter." This choice is a unique characteristic of prophets and applies to every prophet, whether they die a natural death or are martyred. It is impermissible to delve into the details of this without knowledge. Furthermore, one must be cautious of weak and fabricated narrations that mention the Angel of Death seeking permission from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
